Verizon is giving away a free year of Disney’s new streaming service to customers

If you’re an existing Verizon Wireless customer or need a reason to switch internet providers, Verizon is offering a pretty sweet perk. All existing Verizon Wireless Unlimited customers, as well as new Fios Home Internet and new 5G Home Internet customers, can receive a free year of Disney’s new streaming service, Disney Plus. The service is priced at $70 per year, so this is a major cost savings for TV fans.

Starting on Nov. 12 when Disney Plus launches, eligible Verizon customers will be able to access their favorite Disney movies and National Geographic Channel TV shows, as well as Star Wars and Marvel blockbusters and new, exclusive content the company is developing just for Disney Plus, all for free.

Verizon announced the deal via Twitter:

In the first year alone, Disney will release more than 25 original series and 10 original films and documentaries. This is in addition to having classic Disney flicks and 2019 movies like “Toy Story 4″ and the live-action “The Lion King” and “Aladdin.”

Here’s a quick preview of some of the content that’ll be on Disney Plus, as shown by the Disney Plus Twitter channel:

Even customers who’ve already pre-purchased Disney Plus are still eligible to receive the free year. Disney Plus will “pause” existing subscriptions so customers can take advantage of the Verizon partnership freebie. After the year is done, customers will be able to keep the service for the previously announced price of $6.99 per month.

Rolling Stone reports that about half of Verizon’s 100 million customers are on unlimited plans that are eligible for the Disney Plus deal. If you’re not currently one of them, you have until June 1, 2020, to sign up and enjoy the year of free Disney Plus.

Disney’s new streaming service is set to compete against other popular streaming services, like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video and the upcoming Apple TV Plus. It remains to be seen if viewers will drop other services in favor of Disney Plus, or if TV fans will add another streaming service to ones they may already be subscribed to. Regardless, offering Verizon customers a free year’s worth seems like a great way for Disney Plus to lure potential customers in for the long haul.

Are you a Verizon customer who loves Disney? If so, this is your time!
