Kieffer's book is a baker's baking book, but it's also completely unpretentious. There are cookies for when you just want a good cookie, and more ambitious recipes for when you want to attempt palmiers or breaking out a culinary torch.

The measuring of ingredients and other helpful tips from her own experiences proved to be an asset every baker at home needs. Each recipe lists all the ingredients, directions, and other helpful tips. I loved the pictures that went with each recipe. I knew beforehand what I was making and from her detailed directions, how the recipes should come out and if doesn’t why.
A great literary piece for homemade pastries. Varieties of Dessert recipes. Detailed instructions on mixing and forming techniques for every single recipe.
Every recipe therein is reliable, completely uncomplicated and very inviting, exactly what baking up a batch of warm cookies should feel like. It really is almost impossible to flip through the book without wanting to try out every recipe. Kieffer has a flavour for every mood and every occasion.
This essential cookbook comes with 100 delicious cookies with step-by-step instructions, most of which are accompanied by a picture. It also shares some fundamental info on cookie-baking techniques, including “pan-banging.”

What reviewers didn't like

Some repeats of recipes from her other cookbook, some fairly obscure flavor/ingredient ideas (banana flour cookies), and the photography was just really dull and lacking.
Some people have said that a few of the recipes were labor-intensive or had more sugar than they’d prefer.
